1. The first computer in Europe was developed in 1950 in Ukraine, under the guidance of Sergey Lebedev and under the name of "smart machine". And after that, based on the work of Lebedev, the famous company IBM developed the modern computer.
2. The first higher educational school in Eastern Europe was established in Kiev in 1615, and in 1658 it was given the name of "Academy". And still it has the name of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
3. Four out of the ten big transport corridors pass through Ukraine. As early as in antique times, the Dnieper river was the main waterway between the Vikings and Greeks. And now, the main gas transport systems go through Ukraine, delivering the Russian gas to Europe.
4. The first liver transplantation operation was made in Kharkov in 1933 by a talented surgeon Iriy Voroniy. The documental proof of his operation was published in the Italian periodical "Minerva Chirurgica" announcing it as a new discovery in medicine.
5. The deepest underground station is situated in the capital of Ukraine, the city of Kiev, it’s “Arsenalnaya” underground station, it’s 105 meters deep.
